Youth Academy
Doyalson Wyee Football Club identified that there has been a missing piece in being able to retain local juniors at the club.
Most notably from Under 12's onwards, we as a club have had difficulty retaining players, which in turn leads to placing teams in lower divisions.
Players with greater playing ability and ambitions will then leave the club to pursue other opportunities either on the Central Coast with another club, or in Northern NSW Football.
Based on parent feedback, they have felt that Doyalson Wyee Football Club could not provide the most effective football environment for their child's development as a footballer, and a lack of pathways through the senior football.
Doyalson Wyee Football club has therefore implemented an initiative to have an initial Advanced Player Academy and a subsequent Elite Player Academy to fill this gap and aim to make Doyalson Wyee Football Club a club of choice for local footballing talent, retain players and ultimately field additional teams in older age groups to provide a genuine pathway through to senior grade football.
All selected players will be receiving the following Wolves Academy Training Strip
1) Advanced Academy:
This is an initial academy of one session per week over 7 weeks, on top of the players regular team training. Players have been invited to join this academy by the Technical Director and with coach input through identification of advanced players in the age groups from Under 8's through to under 12's.
This Academy will involve 28 players.
Sessions will be run by the Technical Director, a C License accredited coach with extensive experience, and support provided by other club coaches and the Junior Representatives.
The academy will provide players with a unique experience of being able to train/play with peers who they otherwise would not participate with. It will be providing new challenges and opportunities to develop skill and technique which the players can take back to their own team environment.
By providing these players with a separate training strip, they will stand out amongst the club and aim to provide other players with the goal of being selected in future years.
At the conclusion of the 7-week program, a smaller group of elite players will be selected to be included in the Elite Player Academy.
2) Elite Academy
This will be a smaller cohort of the most elite junior players at the club and will be selected solely by the Technical Director based on performance, application, and potential during the 7-week Advanced Academy.
This will be a more targeted cohort to further enhance skills in a smaller more elite group of players. Again, we aim to make this an Elite group which other players will strive to be a part of.
These programs will provide players with a level of coaching and attention which cannot be provided in other club environments and through the care and focus given to player development aim to ensure that the players remain with the club in future years and progress to Men's or Women's Grade football.
